This museum focuses on Dutch art, especially paintings, drawings and sculptures. The artworks on display range from those as old as the Middle Ages up to those from the 20th century. The crown jewels of the museum's large collection are a number of paintings by Rembrandt and Vermeer as well as the famous auto-portrait by Van Gogh.
The museum also has a restaurant and a café, as well as a cloakroom, where you can leave your luggage free of charge. This comes in handy since it is forbidden to carry bags larger than A4 inside the museum itself.
When visiting, expect an approximately 30 minutes-long wait in line for tickets. If you wish to avoid it, either come early in the morning, late in the afternoon or pre-purchase a ticket online.
