This bridge, connecting Manhattan and Brooklyn, is definitely one of New York’s most iconic sights. It is one of the oldest suspension bridges in the US and it was the longest bridge in the world for 20 years.
When it was finished (in 1883) it actually connected two separate cities, because at that time Brooklyn was not yet part of New York City. During its construction, up to thirty people were killed (the exact number is unknown) including its designer John A. Roebling.
The bridge appears in many films, one of the best-known being e.g. Godzilla or Spider-Man.
If you decide to walk across the bridge, you will enjoy spectacular views over the city.
