Beaches • Waimea, Hawaii United States

Polihale State Park, located in Waimea, Hawaii, is a popular state park with many attractions. During the summer, travelers can swim when the water is calm enough. From the beach, visitors can see the large sea cliffs on the Napali Coast and view colorful sunsets every night. There are many large sand dunes on the beach, and some may reach up to 100 feet high. Fishing from the shore is permitted, and visitors with a camping permit can camp along the coastline in the park for $12 per night. There are many picnic tables on the beach where visitors can eat meals while enjoying the view.

To enter the park, visitors must travel down a long dirt road that leads to the beach. During or after rainstorms, the road may flood and prevent visitors from entering the park. Vehicles with four-wheel drive are recommended, and travelers may not be able to drive rental cars down the dirt road.
