Westminster Bridge

Sights & Landmarks • London, England United Kingdom

Come and admire this 19th-century bridge that links Westminster and Lambeth, and that is the oldest road bridge to cross the river Thames in central London. The arch bridge is 252 meters long and 26 meters wide and has the largest number of spans of any of the Thames bridges.

Interestingly, it was painted green in 1970 for a specific reason - that is to match the green leather seats in the House of Commons - the part of the Palace of Westminster that is the closest to the bridge.

Furthermore, you can meet a variety of street artists whose performances will make your visit truly unforgettable. And if not for the bridge or its artists, come here for the best views of Big Ben, Houses of Parliament and the River Thames.
