This traditional site for public speeches dates back to 1866 when first protests were held here. In 1872, this site was set for public speaking officially by the parliament. At the beginning of the 20th century, the suffragettes held meetings here.
Hyde Park has a long tradition of holding rallies, demonstrations and protests, and enthusiasts come to the Speakers' Corner to express their views on many subjects even today.
